Set on a world stage, hotels from 172 different countries came together to take part in this year’s Haute Grandeur Awards hotel awards and compete for places in 90 different categories.
What is the Haute Grandeur Awards?
The Haute Grandeur Awards is an international organisation dedicated to commending unparalleled excellences found in hotels around the globe. Experienced judges with specialities in hospitality, personally visit each property and base the winner from their first-hand experience. The decision is made final from the opinions of the most important critiques in the hotel business: the hotel guests. This elaborate judging system ensures for honest results that recognise the different flavours found in unique hotels from all ends of the globe.

The awards were established as the unbiased and independent initiative that honours excellence from across the global hotel industry in 2014. They aim for fairness and transparency so that they can provide a credible Awards system, that not only focuses on recognition but a guided process on how hotels can improve their existing service levels. Helping to create awareness about raising the bar to achieve excellence.

How did New Zealand’s hotels fair?
Against the world’s very best, Auckland’s boutique hotel ‘Hotel Grand Windsor’ was crowned as 2019 winner of Boutique Hotel of The Year.
The Hotel Grand Windsor’s refined aesthetic was recognised by judges and allowed for them to take home many esteemed rewards. This Auckland boutique hotel takes place on the world stage in recognition for the luxury experience it offers that echoes the rich history behind the building. It leaves its guests with the experience of another time, but with the comfort of the modern amenities expected in accommodation.
Hotel Grand Windsor is not only receiving the privilege to be named as the boutique hotel of the year but received an outstanding 6 more excellence awards, creating a new record for a New Zealand hotel.

Two other New Zealand Hotel took home awards on that incredible night. With Eagles Nest winning Best Destination Wedding Hotel and SO/ Auckland winning Best Design Hotel and Best Luxury Boutique Hotel.
As mentioned earlier, New Zealand won the continent award for best boutique hotel award in Oceania, but four other hotels from different contents were crowned with the same prize: The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel for Africa, Chedi Muscat for the Middle east, Luxe Manor for Asia and Verride Palácio Santa Catarina for Europe.
