Chad Kroger – The Face Of Nickelback
Chad Kroeger is most well-known for his role as the lead singer of Nickelback. The rock band has enjoyed worldwide success with hit singles such as “How You Remind Me,” “Photograph” as well as “Rockstar.” As the face of Nickelback, the Canadian musician has also earned plenty of money throughout his career.
Chad Kroeger’s birthname is Chad Robert Turton in Alberta, Canada in the early 70s. Chad has an older brother, Mike, who is also part of Nickelback. His childhood was something which one could call ‘troubled’.
Chad’s father left the family high and dry when he was only two – he wrote about it in a later song. He was a very troubled child and would often steal money from other students while in school. Chad was caught and sent to detention. The hatred towards his father made Chad adapt his mother’s maiden name as his surname.
Chad began playing guitar at the age of 13 along with his brother. He got a lot of pleasure from listening to alternative and grunge rock bands. Chad began taking music seriously while in high school. When out of the school, he gathered some of his friends around him and started doing small shows around Canada.
How Did Nickelback Get Its Name?
Nickelback started life as a covers band called Village Idiot. The band later changed its name to Nickelback, which originated from the nickel in change that band member Mike Kroeger gave customers at his job at Starbucks; he would frequently say, “Here’s your nickel back.”
