Nowadays, when we talk about a jacket or a jacket, most men do not know how they are different, so they end up using the same term for everything. Although this is very normal, keep in mind that a suit jacket is not the same as a sport jacket or a blazer. Each one has its differences and is usually used differently, and that is what we are going to see next.
Suit Jacket
As with sport jackets, it is very common to call the American suit jacket or simply a jacket. This jacket is an element that is part of a matching set, in this case, a suit that can be two pieces (jacket and pants) or three pieces (jacket, vest and pants).
The jacket of the suit uses the same fabric as the pants with a completely matching design and color. This blazer is the most formal of the three types of jackets we are looking at today. It usually has a greater internal structure that gives it a better composure when wearing varsity jacket womens (although it is common to find suits that avoid including this type of structure or internal fodder to save costs).
In addition, being more formal, plain designs along with traditional colors such as black, gray or navy blue have been predominant in this type of jacket. However, in recent years this has been changing little by little, so that more original designs have been included in the suits, such as suits with prints, checks or pinstripes. All this together with more striking and modern colors such as green, beige, light blue or maroon.
Blazer
In the next step in terms of degree of formality we have what is known as a sports jacket. This jacket differs from the suit jacket because it is worn independently, that is, it does not have matching pants or a vest as in the case of the suits we have seen before, and although that does not mean that we can incorporate it on our own. Some model of pants or accessory that is of the same style.
Sports jackets arose as a result of certain sports activities (hence their name), such as hunting or horse riding.
Sport jackets are less formal than suit jackets, which makes them perfect for wearing more casual or informal outfits. Their fabrics usually have other types of textures with patterns. In addition, they usually do not have that structure that suits have to make them somewhat lighter.
Black varsity jacket mens out for having decorative elements such as patch pockets or elbow patches that make them ideal for more informal occasions but always maintaining the level of elegance.
Blazer
And finally we come to the third type of jacket, the blazer. The blazers differ from the previous American models by the decorative elements that they carry. As with sports jackets, they can have patch or flap pockets, but also, for example, they usually have buttons (often metallic) with a strong contrast with the fabric they are made of.
It is very common to see marine blazers with brass buttons or with buttons in a very light color, in pearl tones. In addition, its fabric is much stronger and more resistant than the jackets we have seen so far.
For practical purposes, sport jackets and blazers tend to be the garments that give rise to the most confusion, since they are the ones worn on more informal occasions and do not have matching pants.
