Having a pool right at your home can be the most fulfilling thing ever. However, having to clean and maintain it, is not. Most people just cannot get themselves to go out on a perfect clean morning to the pool and find out that the pool is not as clean as they would’ve wanted. Having suffered the tragedy, they cannot find it in themselves to clean the pool themselves.
But, here are some hacks for your pool maintenance that will make it somewhat easier to manage your pool:
Balancing Frequency
Most people tend to check for their pool chemical constituency only about once or twice a month. When they do and find the pool chemicals unbalanced they will have to add chemicals for adjusting this balance and this often results in a greater quantity being used. why? Because checking so infrequently means that the balance will be off by a margin.
On the other hand, if you check the frequency about twice a week and adjust for the difference, you will find that you have to use much lesser chemicals because of smaller discrepancies.
Solar Covers
Not only do Pool Specialists at the Pool Heating Company love the use of solar for heating, but you can derive great benefit from using solar covers as well. Solar covers are essential to help your pool retain its heat (by up to 70%). Not just that, solar covers are also a great help in keeping out all the dirt and leaves that find their way into your pool forcing you to clean it every now and then. Goes without saying how much of an energy efficient the solar cover will really make your entire pool and help save costs.
Water Circulation > Chemical Costs
Most pool owners tend to run their water filter only during the time that they are swimming in it. Although this is energy efficient and allows you to save on energy costs, you lose out in paying for chemical balance upkeep later. So, a better solution is to run your filtration and circulation system for at least 8 hours so that your pool gets the ideal circulation to keep the water healthy and you save on chemicals.
Another great tip in following this hack is to run your water pump at night. Why? Well, because the cost per unit of electricity at night are the lowest because these are non-peak hours. That way, you get to save on electricity and chemicals all at once.
Stray Oils
Every now and then, you will find a thin layer of oil moving around on the surface of your pool and there really is nothing that is more frustrating. Nobody knows where this oil came from but it just did. A hack to get this oil out is to use a tennis ball. These tennis balls are great at absorbing oils and stray chemicals. Just toss some balls in and they’ll absorb the oil sooner than you can say “oil”.
